| What is this
Indicator? This indicator shows the percentage of
workers 16 and older who get to work by driving alone in a car,
truck, or van. |
| Why this is
important? Driving alone to work consumes more fuel
resources than other modes of transportation, such as carpooling,
taking public transportation, biking, or walking. Driving alone
also increases traffic congestion, especially in areas of great
population density. |
| Technical Note:
Data are based on a sample and limited to the household population
and exclude the population living in institutions, college
dormitories, and other group quarters. |
